Definition: any of a class of warships that are the most heavily armored and are equipped with the most powerful armament. 1. (Nav.) An armor-plated warship built of steel and heavily armed, generally having over ten thousand tons displacement, and intended to be fit to combat the heaviest enemy ships in line of battle; the most heavily armed and armored class of warship at any given time. Battle: noun Usage: often attributive 1 archaic : battalion 2 : a combat between two persons 3 : a general encounter between armies, ships of war, or aircraft 4 : an extended contest, struggle, or controversy <a battle of wits> Synonyms: struggle, fight, fray, scrabble, throes battle intransitive verb 1 : to engage in battle : fight 2 : to contend with full strength, vigor, skill, or resources : struggle transitive verb 1 : to fight or struggle against 2 : to force (as one's way) by battling The BATTLESHIP: "Claim your rights, start your fights!" "It's mine, it's mine, it's not yours!" "I was here first!" "I called shotgun 1st!" "You have no right!" "You are wrong!" "I am right!" Does that sound about right? Actually, it's all wrong! BATTLE; This is how many typically choose to fight! BALKING: backbiting, blaming, betraying, and even backsliding... ARGUING: arrogant, afraid, accusatory... TIMIDITY: terrible tempting tormentor... TEMPER: tantrums, taking, terrorizing... LAMENTING: looser, lukewarm, languishing... EMBITTERED: empty, envious, evil, exasperating, extorter... Do not grieve The Holy Spirit, by battling in this manner and do not treat God's Word and His way of doing things, with contempt. Deal with the root of bitterness when you forgive! "Let God reveal it, let Grace remove it, let Good replace it." -Adrian Rogers Whose battle is it? Yours or The Lord's? We can make it our own, or we can choose to look to God's Holy Writ  for help and guidance. We can do it the hard way, our way, or the easy and most successful way, God's way! The battle is not ours, but The Lord's! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. (2 Chronicles 20:15bNIV) (Ref. Php.1:27-28, 12:7-11 NIV) "It's more blessed to be righteous than right."  -Garry Meineke... You might win a battle by being right, but you won't necessarily win the war, you might end of dead right; for when you demand "your right of way," you may very well end up "dead right away!" Some might say, "but, I've been wronged!" You may very well be right, but it doesn't have any power or influence to make you better.  Only by releasing the wrong, will make it right and cause you to get better!  If you choose not to do it God's way, by releasing the wrong, then you won't get better, you'll just become bitter and have a set of bigger problems to eventually deal with, that in order to get relief, you'll have to release, to get better! There is no other way around it to get better. God's Word tells us that revenge is His to repay, not ours. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:19-21 NIV) His way is the only way that works, our way will always be ineffective and will not ever produce the desired result! We should also not have the attitude, because we know The Lord will avenge us; "okay Lord, go get em and get em real good!" Nor should we allow our pride or bitterness to rule our lives, but choose to clothe ourselves in humility. Pride and bitterness leads us to utter and total humiliation, while humility and releasing leads to being exalted in due time! Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. (Hebrews 12:15 NLT) BATTLE-Here is God's plan of attack for the battles we may face! BELIEVE He is able and that He will do what He says He will do! If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. (Romans 10:9, 10 NLT) "I know Whom I believe in and He is able!"(2Tim. 1:12) "W/O faith it is impossible to please God, when you come to Him you must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him!"(Heb. 11:6) "Whoever believes, signs will accompany those who believe!"(Mk. 16:15-18) "Believe Jesus when He says He is in The Father and The Father is in Him!"(Jn. 14:11-13) "Thomas,(all of us) stop doubting start believing!"(Jn. 20:27) ACCEPT His Word as your promise, accept others, as He accepts you! Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (Romans 15:7 NIV) "Accept the weak w/o passing judgment on them!"(Rom. 14:1) "If you're wise, you'll accept the commands of The Lord!"(Pr. 10:8) "Also if wise, you'll listen to advice and accept instruction!"(Pr. 19:20) TRUST Him to complete and finish what He starts! being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6 NIV) I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? (Psalms 56:4 NLT) "Anyone who puts their trust in Him, according to scripture, will never be put to shame!"(Rom. 10:11) "We get filled up by The God of hope, with joy and peace, as we trust in Him, so that we may overflow with hope, by the power of The Holy Spirit!"(Rom. 15:13) "When I'm afraid, I will trust Him!"(Ps. 56:3) TRUTH, He is our truth and our strong ally, The Cornerstone of our sure foundation!" Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart. (Psalm 51:6 ESV) Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. (Ephesians 2:20 NLT) "True worshipers are the kind who worship God in Spirit and in Truth, they are the ones The Father is seeking!"(Jn. 4:23) "Hold to the teachings of Jesus and you will know The Truth and The Truth will set you free!"(Jn. 8:32) "Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life! There is no other way to The Father!"(Jn. 14:6) "Let God be called True and every man a liar!"(Rom. 3:4) "Whatever is true/truth...think and meditate on it!"(Php. 4:8) LEAN into and upon Him and His Word, learn His understanding, don't rely upon yours!" Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5 NIV) "Learning to lean, learning to lean on Jesus" words from an old song sung by many.  Put an "R" in lean and you have learn.  While we are leaning we should also be learning to lean upon Him and Him alone! Learning to be content...(Php.. 4:11) Learning to seek Him, in all our ways...(Pr. 3:6) Learning to not rely upon our own wisdom...(Pr. 3:7) EMBRACE His purpose, His wisdom, for your life and ENDURE the fight/battle to the end! She is a tree of life (wisdom) to those who embrace her; those who hold her tight are happy. (Proverbs 3:18 CEB)Love wisdom, and she will make you great. Embrace her, and she will bring you honour. (Proverbs 4:8 GNB) so that Christ may live in your hearts through a faith rooted in, and founded on, charity. So may you be able to embrace, with all the saints, what is the width and length and height and depth of the charity of Christ, and even be able to know that which surpasses all knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do all things, more abundantly than we could ever ask or understand, by means of the virtue which is at work in us: to him be glory, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, throughout every generation, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:17-21 CPDV) For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, (Romans 15:4, 5 ESV) If we endure hardship, we will reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us. (2 Timothy 2:12 NLT) We must persevere in order to get what is promised! Don't give up! (Heb. 10:36) Endure hardship as discipline. God disciplines us for our own good, so that we can share in His Holiness, thus producing of harvest of righteousness and peace. Even though it may seem painfully difficult, at the time, ("no pain no gain") it ends up being very good training and for our ultimate benefit! (Heb. 12:7-11)   We are in the BATTLE, but the BATTLE truly belongs to The Lord! Now, we can choose to battle on our own, but this is what we face and experience when we choose to do it our way and not His! BATTLE on our own; Broken, Alone, Traumatized, Terrified, Lonely, Egregious, living w/out Hope! We are not w/out Hope, He is our Hope, our Blessed Hope! Don't try and BATTLE on your own, you'll just loose and your BATTLESHIP will be sunk!
